residency at Manchester space, the New Polyphonies space (Brussels)
Back in 2019, in the Open Design Course for refugees and asylum seekers, Elli was teaching open culture and participatory practices. She then invited Hans Bryssinck, teacher in performance art and autonomous design (KASK) Ghent and student of Narrative Practices at UCI Red (Rural Indigenous University) in Puebla, Mexico. Together they led a workshop on “Weaving a Collective body through Narrative Practices”. The script of the practice was an adaptation of an original script shared with Hans by his mentor in Rural Indigenous University. The practice is an attempt to map collective embodied knowledges and create a seed of a potential community, make space for listening, expressing ones self and empowering each other.
Elli readapted and simplified the script, given from Hans, for The Post Collective, as a tool for community building and as a tool that brought in the forefront the stories we needed to share and the ones we had in common, like the importance of a home and the extreme implications of trauma in our lives as artists, activists, migrants, refugees, and people with limited rights.
